Hosting the Homeless

The Immaculate Heart of Mary Hosting the Homeless program began in the fall of 1986 and continues to help those in need.  Why are they homeless?  It could be because of health issues, lose of a job, or because someone was burnt out of their home.  The needs of others less fortunate should be address.

Our guests come to us from the Homefirst organization out of Plainfield.  They will stay with us for a week and during that time try to find an apartment and a job.  We provide them with basic needs: food, and a safe place to sleep.  They are just like you. They watch TV, read a book, or do homework.  You may see them arriving on the van or playing in our parking lot.  All they want is their own home and their own bed. They take showers at the YMCA down the street.
